Google Releases Android 12 to AOSP

 

Google has recently rolled out Android 12 to AOSP in a huge departure from earlier years, though it didn’t come to any Pixel phones.

During the rollout, it says that they’re pushing the source to AOSP and releasing the most recent Android version officially. Watch out for Android 12 coming to a device close by you, beginning with Pixel in the upcoming weeks and OnePlus, Samsung Galaxy, Tecno, Realme, Oppo, Xiaomi and Vivo later this year.

 

Traditionally for Google phones, the Android Open Source Project release of the next Android version coincides with day one availability. However, this case isn’t included this year, with Google only showing that Pixel phones should hope for the update in the upcoming weeks.

This comes as the final preview from September 8’s Android 12 Beta 5 release candidate, with Google advising developers to keep using the Beta 5 images that’ll be used in testing.

According to the company, over the developer previews and betas course, over 225,000 people tested Android 12.

 

In addition to the AOSP availability, the company officially features four Android 12 tentpoles. Starting with a new UI for Android, it’s available for developers and fuses Material You, Notification UI updates, redesigned widgets, and App launch splash screens.

For Performance, Google explained that it had decreased big scores by 15% and reduced CPU time by core system services by 22%.

 

The company says they’ve enhanced app startup times and faster app loading with optimized I/O, and they’ve also improved CursorWindow for database queries by as much as 49x for large windows.

 

Restricting notification trampolines provides more responsive notifications with 34% faster Google Photos launching after the change. Additional changes include Performance classes for devices, Optimized foreground services, and Faster machine learning.

New Settings Dashboard is leading Privacy. It’s also led by a new nearby devices permission to set up smart accessories without location access permission and wearables.

Also, it has included the camera indicators/toggles and the microphone and better debugging, Compatible media transcoding, Android 12 for Games push.
